Welcome to the home of Hunland White and Yorvik Coloured flocks of pedigree Ryeland sheep owned by Heather and Bill Holloway.
The flocks are located at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds near the village of Full Sutton in East Yorkshire within ten miles out of the historic town of York (Yorvik in Viking times). The holding is a mile from the owners' cottage in the nearby village of Skirpenbeck.
The area has been known as Hunland Field since ancient times. Hence the flock name of Hunland. The pasture has dozens of traditional grass and plant species and the field maintains its its original rolling ridge and furrow pattern. The land is light and free draining consisting of sands and gravel over clay. The Twenty acre holding is divided into four fields by boundaries of ancient hawthorn hedges and fencing. The stocking rate is low so that the traditional grassland is not fertilised or over-managed.
The flocks were established in 2010
We keep both Rylands (Hunlands) and Coloured Ryelands (Yorvik) their flock numbers are as follows:-
